The Musicians
|
Steven Sams, vocals, guitars, keyboards, bass steve@rooke.net
Steven writes a lot of songs, so not only does he record and play with Rooke, but also he releases periodic solo efforts. His songwriting generally focuses on the
positive and negative sides of love and sometimes explores the representation of the universal subconscious in today's society. Convinced ancient mythology is alive and well
and living in hidden forms in modern times, he tries to uncover and illustrate the parallels and symbols through his painting, poetry, and music.

David Johnson-Cater, vocals, guitars, bass, harmonica, flute, melodihorn, keyboards dave@rooke.net
Computer Programmer by day - Computer Programmer by night. Oh, that's not very shocking. But what is? Dave also squeezes in songwriting and performing with Rooke. One of the founding members of the band, David is currently investigating domestic bliss to see if it's all it's cracked up to be. Be wary.

Andy Fleming, vocals, bass, guitars, additional percussion andy@rooke.net
Andy's a wordsmith, although he couldn't find the words to write this bio. So I'll just make up all kinds of things about him to see if anyone will believe it. Andy lives in a treehouse outside of Conyers. He has 27 kids. He plans on writing a double album with a song named after each kid. He's having a hard time writing about his precious Cleophus, so if you have any ideas?

Jim Peliksza, guitars, bass jim@rooke.net
Jim divides his time between development and his beloved recording studio. Click on the studio link on the main navigation bar to find out about his company. He has just bought a new house and is presently building a new recording studio. It's going to be FABOO! Jim learned guitar by listening to blues greats like Eric Clapton. After 25 years playing, Jim was finally informed the other night that he made an acoustic guitar "cry". Soon after, Jim, too, cried tears of joy.
Jim is on hiatus while he prepares for his impending wedding! |

Jayme Caspall, percussion jayme@rooke.net
"I'm an engineer with an artist's heart. I like classical field theory as a metaphor for life, and as a particularly elegant model for spiritual existence, complete with its requirement for positive and negative poles. It accepts rigorously that that which exists at a single point in space and time is felt for all eternity in space and time. Hey, if Richard Feynman can do it?... Okay, he's Feynman and I'm,... well, ...I do alright with a saw and a hammer, so I thought I'd try drum sticks. The drums have become a confounding lover, bringing agony and delight and the compulsion to return again and again. The asymmetry in my music is in my soul. It is a defining characteristic of my sense of aesthetics. Sometimes I wish I could conceal it as if it were a large birthmark of which I am ashamed. But it will remain; for this asymmetry is characteristically human and ultimately interesting; and, in the end I know that what Todd Rundgren sang is true, 'Love between the ugly is the most beautiful love of all.' "
Jayme shares the technical tasks of performing and recording with Jim. Jayme has a masters degree in acoustics from Georgia Tech and specializes in inexpensive studio acoustic enhancements and playing roadie.
