All Rooke recordings are now available on CD.

Rooke's music is an original blend of rock and folk harmonies, with a mature sensibility in the structure and content of the lyrics. We don't try to over-moralize, and some songs are downright frivolous. But there are deeper undercurrents of love, relationships and passion that run through many of the lyrics. Our live shows are energetic without being frenzied, with a lot of audience interaction and a focus on shifting the spotlight onto different members of the band at different times. The style of the music is fluid around a common core.

Most of the members of the band switch instruments throughout the set, each bringing their own style of play and technique on the different instruments to the overall sound. This provides variation in the texture of the music without changing the essential weave. With 4 different singers, different songs are given different styles by the choice of lead singer and the complex harmonies that have evolved throughout the life of the band. Sometimes a different person will sing lead on a song normally sung by another member of the band in order to shake things up a bit, and provide a new dimension or perspective on the melody and lyrics.

Our intended audience is really a more sophisticated and/or more alternative crowd...people who are looking for a different sound than what they will hear on the radio, but still want interesting and catchy melodies, harmonies, and musical compositions. We don't sacrifice quality on the altar of distinction...we don't do grunge or thrash metal.

Rooke Recording New CD for 2006

The working title is Star Chart. Band members include Dave Cater, Andy Fleming, Jayme Caspall, Jim Peliksza, and Steven Sams. Hopefully, we will get a guest vocal in there as well from Jimmy Rose.

Here's a breakdown of the tracks on the CD in roughly the correct order, subject to changes:

Don't Forget to Breathe (Sams)

Take Me (for a Walk) (Cater)

Venom & Frost (Fleming)

Make It Real (Sams)

Eclipse (Sams)

Skrim Punch Flybot (Cater)

Here I Come (There You Go) (Fleming)

The New Song (Sams)

Chat Room Girl (Cater)

Invocation (Crosa)

How Little We Know (Sams)

Resurrected (Fleming)

As you see, Andy has written a lot for this CD! We're very excited about that. Also, we are featuring a song from Robyn Crosa again, one of our favorite writers and a former member of the band.

Want to take a listen to a recording session? Check out Venom & Frost or Resurrected.

Steven Sams recording new CD, Echo

Echo

It's actually the story of Echo and Narcissus told rather indirectly through a series of songs meant to convey the mood of the characters in the Greek Tragedy.
